NewsLifeMedia chief executive quits
Sandra Hook has quit her role as chief executive of NewsLifeMedia, the magazine arm of News Limited.
Hook recently led the companys rebranding from News Magazines to NewsLifeMedia in November last year.
After nearly eight years with the business, through its evolution from FPC Magazines through News Magazines and now NewsLifeMedia, I have decided after a Christmas break it is time to look for a new challenge, Hook said.
I am proud of what we have achieved in that time, building Australias third largest magazine publisher, launching new digital brands and recently repositioning and rebranding the company as NewsLifeMedia.
I leave the business transformed from a traditional magazine company to a multi-platform lifestyle content company that leads in most categories it competes in.
Hook said her decision was based on wanting to seek new challenges.
I shall miss the talented team at Alexandria with whom I have worked so closely, but it is time for me to move on. I wish them every success in the future, she added.
News chief executive, Kim Williams, said: I thank Sandra for the contribution she has made to the business since we acquired FPC Magazines five years ago. In that time she has not only moved our magazine business into a multi-media lifestyle division, but has also been a valued member of the News Limited leadership team.
I, and everyone at News, wish her the all the very best in her future endeavours.
A replacement for Hook will be announced in due course.
UPDATE, 9:00PM | Kim Williams this afternoon appointed NewsLifeMedia chief operating officer Tim Sligo as acting chief executive of the magazine business, according to The Australian.
In an email to staff, the News Limited chief executive said he was committed to NewsLifeMedia and that he was consciously aware that staff were somewhat removed from the action at its Alexandria offices. He subsequently signalled a future move to News Limiteds headquarters in Surry Hills.
